commissions

I believe the true value of a commissioned work of art is to create a new and precious expression of your subject matter, values, and preferences in a style and voice that uniquely my own. For this reason, I see commissions as a partnership as opposed to a re-creation of a photograph. I prefer to work from a combination of photos and in-person or phone interviews. I use multiple images as sources to create a work that will effectively portray the spirit of your subject matter and that will honor the unique qualities that make it special to you.

I am happy to discuss commissioned works and charges with those who are interested in making special requests. Please email me at shop@chelseaherescoparker.com to discuss commission fees and schedules.

Orders and shipping

Original Oils:

  • Oil paintings take a substantial amount of time to dry. I will not ship a painting before it is ready to be tightly packaged (4-7 weeks from painting completion).

  • All artwork is wrapped in paper, padded extremely well, and sent in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box.

  • Most artwork will ship via USPS or UPS and most packages arrive within 4-6 days (domestic) from time of shipping. International shipments will be sent via USPS or other carrier. International buyers, please note that shipping charges may vary from the amount you pay at checkout. Please see details below.

Artwork larger than 50 inches is sent un-stretched and rolled safely in a sturdy tube.  A local framer can build the support bars and stretch the canvas, I’m happy to work with you to make this happen, upon request.  This usually costs between $100-200 depending on the size and location.
If you prefer to ship your large painting fully stretched we will use a freight service to expertly handle the painting and deliver it right to your living room ($300-500)

Prints:

  • All prints are handled with the utmost care; packaged beautifully in paper or plastic sleeve.

  • Prints 11x14 and smaller are mailed in a sturdy flat mailer while prints 16x20 and larger are mailed in a thick tube.

  • Shipped via USPS 1st Class Mail or Priority Mail.

International Shipments:

  • Shipping costs are calculated at based on package weight and distance. I charge a flat fee to accommodate most shipments. I email directly with the purchaser to allow customers to feel informed and know in advance of any additional fees to the extent possible.

  • International packages are a bit outside of my control. Border fees, duties, and handling fees may be charged by other countries. Tracking can also be unreliable with international shipments. Due to this variability, I hold a flat charge of $100 and then either reimburse the extra or charge for any additional fees that arise based on size, location, etc. If there is any discrepancy -/+ I will let you know via email.

Shipping costs cover fees, packaging supplies, time, labor, and storage.

Nashville In-Person PIckup Orders

For those who wish to pick up artwork in person, I’m happy to schedule an opportunity to make this happen. To do this, email me at shop@chelseaherescoparker.com and select “Nashville In-Person Pickup” as your shipping option. Please note that my studio hours are rather limited as I am juggling small children and a very full work load, but we can usually make it work (especially for original oil paintings!)

Image rights

I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold & commissioned original paintings. I retain the right to make reproductions of any and all artwork I create unless the collector has purchased the full or partial rights to the artwork (in addition to purchasing the original artwork, see below.)

When you purchase an original painting you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business. The artwork may not be resold or reproduced without my written permission. The collector or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission.

If my artwork ends up being reproduced in a magazine or other media I only ask for credit.

Full or Partial Rights: Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing full or partial rights in addition to your original painting. Some collectors chose to purchase my right to reproduce the artwork to ensure it will never become a print. I am happy to discuss this upon request.
