Davis Lake: After the Fire - Watercolor on Wood Panel, 9 x 12 inches
Davis Lake After the Fire, Davis Lake, Oregon
9 x 12 inches, 3/4 inch deep
Watercolor painting on cold pressed archival quality paper and mounted to wood panel.
Inspiration: I was struck by the contrast between the stark silhouettes of the burned out trees and the next generation of greenery filling in every available space. Nineteen years later, this place is permeated by a feeling of slow renewal and generations of life.
Archival Quality Fine Art:
I use the highest quality products to seal and protect this work and ensure its longevity. The wood is sealed with acrylic gel gloss, which forms a protective layer between the wood and the back of the painting and adheres the painting to the panel. The painting is coated with a primary layer of spray varnish with UVLS to protect against sun damage, a layer of isolation coat to permanently seal the artwork, and a final layer of matte spray varnish with UVLS to reduce shine and make the artwork appear freshly painted. This final coat could be removed and a new layer reapplied if necessary decades in the future.
